report 2: International Symposium on Bridge Technologies for Next Generations
A
symposium on ‘Bridge Technologies for Next Generations’ was held in Seoul
National University, Korea on Aug. 22, 2017. In last 25 years, engineers and
researchers in Korea have made outstanding developments in various bridge
technologies. In particular, research centers
including the Korea Bridge Design and Engineering Research Center played a
major role in developing core technologies such as reliability-based
limit-state design standards for bridge systems including long-span cable
bridges, and disaster-resilience of cable bridges against natural and man-made
hazards. During this period, bridge engineering communities in Japan and Korea
had active collaborations in various aspects, which led to remarkable outcomes
and strong collaborative networks. This symposium targeted to further
strengthen the friendship and contribute together to bridge engineering
communities in Asia and the world by developing next-generation technologies.
Celebrating the achievements and collaborations in last 25 years, this international
symposium brought together some of the most prominent scholars and engineers to
discuss future directions of technological developments in design,
construction, monitoring and maintenance of regular and cable bridge systems.
